Overview
The VCU Department of Surgery requested a booklet for primary care providers to inform their patients of the department’s services. The booklet includes a message from the surgery chair, a brief history of the department, descriptions of each division and contact information for each surgeon. To give the booklet a distinct look, the team used a unique size — 10" x 7" — with a horizontal orientation. The finished 40-page piece features a clean, simplistic look highlighted by duotone textures and patterns, finished with modern typography. A blue-and-gold color palate complements the generous use of white space and enhances the design and photography. Original color photography includes portraits of surgeons and images of them at work. A four-color offset printing process included a silk-coated sheet.
